BAA Heathrow rewards World Duty Free staff in new retail innovation incentive scheme
In a major accolade for the business, World Duty Free has been awarded first
place in BAA Heathrow's new Eureka! 2010 retail innovation incentive scheme. Launched this year, the award recognises innovative thinking from the airport's business partners, and their efforts to improve the passenger experience at the UK hub. Gebr Heinemann continues roll-out of new retail identity at Bratislava Airport
Gebr Heinemann this week unveiled a new, enlarged travel retail store at
Bratislava Airport under the Heinemann Duty Free brand name. Among the
highlights is a specially designed Regionals zone, featuring Slovak spirits,
liqueurs, wafers, chocolates and gifts. The Hamburg-based travel retailer has

China and South Korea to dominate Japanese summer travel, says leading agency JTB
Japanese outbound travel numbers will leap by +8.4% in the key summer season,
with China and South Korea the major destinations, according to a new survey
from leading agency JTB. Some 2.44 million Japanese will travel abroad between
15 July and 31 August, compared to 2.25 million in 2009. The bullish forecasts

Zürich Airport posts strong commercial performance in June
"The willingness to travel and to spend is back," says Zürich Airport Chief Commercial Officer Peter Eriksson after the airport posted a robust set of commercial results for June. Robust long-haul traffic buoys London Gatwick Airport in June
Passenger traffic at London Gatwick Airport slipped marginally (-0.8%) in June
to 3.04 million, mainly as a result of capacity reductions in the North Atlantic
and Irish markets. Encouragingly, traffic on long-haul routes (excluding North
Atlantic) rose by a solid +6.2% year-on-year. Gatwick’s biggest markets, European scheduled and European charter, remained static. Read

Diverse Flavours offers a taste of South Africa
Experienced duty free executive Anthony Budd hopes the soccer World Cup has whetted
travel retailers' appetites for South African wines. He has set up a new trading
company, Diverse Flavours, to export South African wines, food and beverages.
Based in Cape Town, Budd is working with five wineries to develop their products
in duty free. In May 2010 Hidden Valley Secret 2006 became the first South
