WDF launches new walk-through World Duty Free store at Bournemouth Airport
WDF has officially opened its new World Duty Free store airside at Bournemouth
Airport. The move follows the company’s capture of a ten-year extension at the location, and comes amid the redevelopment of Bournemouth Airport’s commercial facilities. The 3,997sq ft walk-through store features larger areas for liquor, beauty and luxury goods, plus a range of brands not previously available. Read

Ash cloud impact and British Airways strike hit BAA traffic in May
BAA passenger traffic fell by -4.5% year-on-year to 8.6 million, the airports
group reported this week. The decline was due to the continuing impact of April’s volcanic ash cloud, allied to British Airways’ cabin crew strike action. Without these effects traffic volumes would have increased in the month, said BAA. Passenger numbers at key travel retail location Heathrow dipped by -3.1%. Read

Dubai-based Emirates this week placed a US$11.5 billion order with Airbus for an
additional 32 A380 aircraft. The extraordinary deal takes the carrier's total firm orders for the super-jumbos to 90. Airline industry set to return to profit in 2010, says International Air Transport Association
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) expects airlines worldwide to
post a profit of US$2.5 billion in 2010 – a major improvement compared with its previous forecast of a US$2.8 billion loss. "The top line improvement this year puts us about 75% on the way to pre-crisis levels," says IATA Director General and CEO Giovanni Bisignani. Read
