As part of the company's fresh look, Portland's new business cards have a different colour for each employee

UK. Portland has dropped ‘Design’ from its name as part of a re-branding it describes as “a visual manifestation of the changes in business direction and in the profile of the team”.
The new name is seen as a sign of confidence in Portland’s emerging identity as a strategically driven ideas business.
“We feel that the brand now more clearly expresses Portland’s diversity and versatility,” explained Managing Director Ibrahim Ibrahim, who acquired the London-based design consultancy from the Business Design Centre Group in April.
“The company has grown so much in recent years in terms of the people and the quality of the projects being delivered. We hope that this sends a strong signal of the shift in our positioning within the design industry.”
Added Lara Farnham, Environmental Graphics Creative Head at Portland: “It’s a very exciting time for us, our look and feel is now aligned with how we want to represent ourselves; strategic, straightforward and creative.
“We have decided to employ a multiple colour palette, from which each of us has chosen a unique colour for our business cards.”
The consultancy has just completed the first phase of the new website and has started overhauling its marketing collateral. A revamp of the studio environment will also follow.
