FRANCE/INTERNATIONAL. The auction of four original paintings by children cared for by The Smile Train and The Lotus Flower Trust has raised another €16,000 for the two charities through the Heart2Art campaign led by Tax Free World Association (TFWA).

Copies of the paintings were sold, beginning at TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes in October, as part of a drive to raise €50,000 from the industry – a figure matched by TFWA’s charitable arm TFWA Care.

The originals of the four paintings, created by children who have been helped by the two charities, raised €16,000
The winning bidders for the originals were Gert Jacobs of Belgian-based Sunny Europe (Painting A by Rahmi from Indonesia) while Dubai Duty Free secured Painting B by Jorge Penalosa from Columbia. An anonymous bidder won Painting C by US-based Megan Tabor, and Ayman Tamer of Lebanon-based The Tamer Group won Painting D, by Aarohi Goyal in India.

TFWA said it would announce the total figure raised at the beginning of next year as pledges and orders for the prints are still being processed.

TFWA noted: “While sales were difficult during TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, the industry has mobilised since the end of the event. Current estimates indicate that the total funds raised, including the €50,000 pledged by TFWA Care, are in line with TFWA’s initial target of €100,000.”
