George Velentzas: Major accolade
Hellenic Duty Free Shops (HDFS) noted Velentzas’ focus on strong relationships with staff and customers.
In a statement it said: “Mr. Velentzas has never implemented complex, over-analytical management models. He believes in simple, clear-cut standpoints. Companies that enjoy the largest profits and consequently shareholder satisfaction, place importance on quality relationships with employees, with clients. Employee satisfaction produces client satisfaction, which in turn produces shareholder satisfaction.”
In his 32 years with the travel retailer, Velentzas has maintained this approach, said HDFS.
Despite the adverse situation in Greece, 2011 ended on a positive note, the company said. One indicator was an increasing in staff levels even with the merger of Folli Follie, Elmec Sport and HDFS, it added.
The company concluded: “Hellenic Duty Free Shops is optimistically facing the future. For 2012, the company has scheduled the launching of new stores in accordance with the global trend in the travel industry, which provides for the creation of ultra-modern, spacious malls at exit points in each country. The aim is to extend commercial areas so the company can strongly promote product categories and comprehensively meet passengers’ purchasing needs.”
