MAC Cosmetics is aiming to make twice its normal impact on World AIDS Day (1 December) by matching all Viva Glam product sales on any of its MAC e-commerce sites, thereby delivering a double donation.

100% of every Viva Glam product is donated to the MAC Aids Fund. As previously reported, the 2012 MAC Viva Glam campaign is being fronted by Ricky Martin and Nicki Minaj. Minaj’s lipstick is a “scene-stealing” satin bright yellow pink, while Ricky Martin’s product is a colourless lip conditioner, presented in a portable tube that goes from day to dance floor, according to the brand.

Typically one Viva Glam purchase can buy five meals for a person living with HIV, but with MAC Cosmetics’ donation match on World AIDS Day, a Viva Glam lipstick purchased online can now buy 10 meals.

To date the MAC AIDS Fund has raised more than US$270 million, to help men, women and children globally living with HIV/AIDS.

Additionally, in the week leading up to World AIDS Day, MAC Cosmetics employees around the world will put away their make-up brushes and use their hands to participate in an annual, company-wide volunteer effort.

Organised by the MAC AIDS Fund, this volunteer initiative involves more than 2,000 MAC employees in 122 North American cities and 36 countries worldwide. MAC employees will donate their time, energy and skills to local organisations dedicated to improving the well-being of individuals living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

“Our employees take great pride in the fact that 100% of each Viva Glam sale they make goes directly toward improving the lives of those affected by HIV/AIDS,” noted Nancy Mahon, Global Executive Director of the MAC AIDS Fund and Senior Vice President of MAC Cosmetics. “The company is bonded by our commitment to the MAC AIDS Fund, the heart and soul of the MAC brand.”

The volunteer efforts will kick off in the week leading up to World AIDS Day. On Friday 30 November through 1 December, the MAC AIDS Fund will take over MAC’s Twitter handle @MACcosmetics to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS, and to give a glimpse into the huge impact Viva Glam products have made in the lives of those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

ABOUT THE MAC AIDS FUND
The MAC AIDS Fund (MAF) was established in 1994 to support men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS globally. MAF is a pioneer in HIV/AIDS funding, providing financial support to organisations working with underserved regions and populations. As the largest corporate non-pharmaceutical giver in the arena, MAF is committed to addressing the link between poverty and HIV/AIDS by supporting diverse organisations around the world that provide a wide range of services to people living with HIV/AIDS. To date, MAF has raised US$270 million exclusively through the sale of MAC’s Viva Glam products, donating 100% of the sale price (minus VAT where applicable) to fight HIV/AIDS.
