GERMANY. Gebr Heinemann and Estée Lauder Travel Retailing have unveiled a new store at Frankfurt Airport Terminal 1B showcasing three premium makeup and fragrance brands: La Mer, Jo Malone and Bobbi Brown.

Estée Lauder Travel Retailing – EMEA Vice President/General Manager Jean-Charles Séité said: “We are delighted with the launch of this speciality store at Frankfurt Airport, the first of its kind in the EMEA region.

“The deluxe design of the store makes it a perfect fit for La Mer, Jo Malone and Bobbi Brown all of which are premium brands. We anticipate that consumers will be drawn to this store not only because of the stunning design of the store, but also because of the brands on offer here."

The new 70sq m store at Frankfurt Airport is the first store of its type to be opened in the beauty group's EMEA region
He added: “As a result of our strong partnership with Heinemann, our retail partner on this project, we have been able to design a store which not only enhances the retail experience for the consumer, but also ensures that they automatically recognise as soon as they enter the store that this environment will not only offer aspirational premium brands, but will also ensure that they are able to fully experience the brand in an airport location.

“We are confident that this new speciality store will deliver the anticipated sales, recruit new customers and add a new dimension to airport shopping,” Séité added.

Gebr Heinemann Managing Director Purchasing & Logistics Kay Spanger added: “Frankfurt Airport is one of the busiest airports in the world with millions of passengers travelling through every year and we therefore believe it is the perfect environment to introduce this new retail concept which occupies a total site of 70sq m.

“In collaboration with Estée Lauder Travel Retailing and the airport authority Fraport, our vision has been to not only enhance the brands we have on offer at this airport, but to also offer a retail surrounding where consumers can truly experience new brands such as La Mer, Bobbi Brown and Jo Malone in an environment appropriate for such prestige brands.

“Our unique relationship with our suppliers keeps us at the leading edge of retail innovation and positions us among the first choice for brand owners to showcase their products. We firmly believe that the addition of these brands to our existing portfolio of prestige brands ensures that we are able to offer an even better shopping experience to our discerning consumers. We have no doubt that this store will enhance the shopping experience at this airport and be a great success,” Spanger concluded.

Jo Malone, the British lifestyle collection for the bath, body and home, incorporates elements from the brand's first shop in London’s Sloane Street, such as the library-style shelves, with linear glass bottles and iconic gift boxes throughout.

The shop will feature the Jo Malone Tasting Bar where customers can experience the Art of Fragrance Combining, a service unique to the brand. There, Jo Malone stylists prepare signature, bespoke fragrances by layering colognes with body crèmes and lotions onto customers’ skin. Customers are also given a complimentary hand and arm massage.

Another feature is the customised Scent Surround consultation, where customers can learn how to use Jo Malone’s home fragrance products to create environments for different tastes, moods and occasions.

The Bobbi Brown Beauty Studio houses individual makeup stations. Trained makeup artists will be on-hand to teach customers how to choose the right products. Bobbi Brown is known for her development of yellow-based makeup products that match a woman’s natural skin tone, as well as for her user-friendly stick formulations, and shades of lipstick, blush and eye shadows.

La Mer, hailed as one of the most luxurious skincare brands in the world, occupies a premier site within the new Frankfurt store.

Crème de la Mer was conceived under what the brand described as “extraordinary circumstances”. Years ago, aerospace physicist Dr Max Huber suffered a horrific accident – a routine experiment exploded in his face – covering him with severe chemical burns. Neither science nor medicine offered sufficient promise of help, so Huber decided to help himself. 12 years and 6,000 experiments later, he perfected the crème that would apparently help give skin a dramatically smoother appearance.
