INTERNATIONAL. Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail will unveil at the TFWA World Exhibition a unique presentation of Champagne Piper-Heidsieck Brut which evokes an erotic ritual made famous in late 19th century Paris (Stand number: Marine Village 1A).
According to Rémy Cointreau, at the heart of the history of champagne there is one ritual that stands as the most decadent and aristocratic – drinking champagne from the shoe of a courtesan. The custom originated in 18th-century England where the gentry took to drinking champagne from the shoes of ballerinas but it was made famous in Paris a century later.
Piper-Heidsieck is reinterpreting this risqué custom from the Belle Époque with the launch of Le Rituel de Piper-Heidsieck, featuring a crystal stiletto shoe which serves as a champagne flute.
The handcrafted stiletto has been designed by luxury footwear designer Christian Louboutin, whose subversive and extravagant creations are in “perfect harmony” with Le Rituel de Piper-Heidsieck, the company said.
Over the past 18 years Christian Louboutin has achieved international fame by reviving the couture shoe. His colour of choice is red, which graces the soles of all his shoes and resonates with Piper-Heidsieck, for whom red is a key brand colour.

The Le Rituel shoe has a 14cm heel, with the champagne being contained in the lower part of the glass. The opaque black crystal shoe features a transparent red sole – a trademark of the brand.
The crystal stiletto flute, signed by both houses, will be presented in a luxury gift box with a printed legend about Le Rituel, a red shoe pouch and a bottle of Champagne Piper-Heidsieck Brut. The bottle has been personalised with the signature of Louboutin and dressed with a red foil top.
The recommended retail price for this limited edition of Le Rituel par Christian Louboutin de Piper-Heidsieck will be €350. It will be available from the end of October in selected domestic and duty free outlets.
The presentation of Le Rituel will be supported by a set of visibility tools including a boudoir window display and pedestal glorifiers.
