Auchentoshan Distillery’s premium 42yo expression will retail at £2,000 each in World of Whiskies stores

UK. Auchentoshan Distillery, said to be home to Scotland’s only triple-distilled single malt whisky, has launched a premium limited-edition 42yo expression, available exclusively in World Duty Free outlets.
Only 123 bottles of the rare vintage have been produced, each is individually hand numbered and will retail at £2,000 (around US$3,300) in World of Whiskies stores at London Heathrow, London Gatwick, London Stansted, Edinburgh and Glasgow airports from 29 October.
World Duty Free Liquor Buyer Paul Hunnisett said: “We are proud to offer this exclusive whisky in store and anticipate Auchentoshan 1965 will be extremely well received by whisky connoisseurs and collectors.
“This fine single malt offers World Duty Free customers a unique experience, while reinforcing our commitment to be innovative in the retail market.”
The vintage 42yo expression began life in 1965 when it was filled into American oak barrels before resting for 42 years at the lowland distillery warehouse near Glasgow.
Golden barley in colour, the nose is described as having intense scents of honey, vanilla and coconut, balanced with fresh citrus and cooling mint tones. An initial sweet, mellow maltiness on the palate gives way to a delicate finish, said the distillery.
Auchentoshan Marketing Manager Karen Christie said: “The launch of this 42yo expression offers a great platform for Auchentoshan to develop a strong relationship with World Duty Free and its customer base of sophisticated whisky drinkers.”
