Castle Brands will introduce the new Clontarf Irish Whiskey range in Classic Blend and Single Malt versions
This year Castle Brands will be presenting the new Clontarf Irish Whiskey range in both Classic Blend and Single Malt versions. The brand has undergone a redesign in both extensions and is now additionally available in a gift carton.
Knappogue Castle Vintage Single Malt Irish Whiskey includes Knappogue Castle 1951, said to be the oldest and rarest Irish whiskey in the world. Knappogue 1951 is a traditional pot still whiskey which means it is made from both malted and unmalted barley. It was triple distilled in 1951 at the famous B. Daly Distillery in Tullamore and was aged in sherry casks for 36 years.
The latest vintage in the award-winning Knappogue Castle series was distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2007. Knappogue is lightly chill filtered and unlike many whiskeys, no artificial colouring is added.
Castle Brands will also be show casing Boru Vodka, which is distilled in Ireland five times and is described as the only premium Irish vodka with a genuine Irish heritage. Boru is one of the leading premium vodka brands in Ireland and is reported to be emerging steadily in the US domestic market.
Castle Brands' recent travel retail successes include listings in Brussels Airport, Nuance and Belfast International Airport. "The international business is developing very positively with distribution partners aggressively promoting focus brands in South Africa, Bulgaria and Russia. Recent listings in Scandinavia, where Castle Brands has partnered with Interbrands, also augur well for the future," said Export Area Manager Simon Nelson.
"Over the coming year, Castle Brands looks forward to developing further on its successes while looking to new opportunities for Knappogue Castle in the international travel retail market. The team is keen to expand business throughout European duty free and travel retail and interested to meet with travel retail buyers and distributors representing Asian markets during TFWA World Exhibition," said Nelson.
New at Cannes: Greenore 15yo is claimed to be the oldest bottling of single grain Irish whiskey in the world
Celebrating its 21st birthday, Cooley Distillery comes to TFWA World Exhibition with a new corporate identity to reflect its position as a world class Irish whiskey distiller, as well as allowing for vertical integration of all brands under the Cooley banner.
New in Cannes is claimed to be the oldest bottling of single grain Irish whiskey in the world: Greenore 15yo. This is bottled from a small batch of casks handpicked by Cooley’s master blender Noel Sweeney. The whiskey is aged in single-use bourbon oak casks from Kentucky and matured in the Old Kilbeggan Distillery. Only 5,000 bottles are being released.
Additionally, following "tremendous" response from the trade and consumers, Tyrconnell 10yo Finishes have been repackaged to reflect their core positioning in the range.
The past year has seen growth for Cooley in travel retail. "With our direct accounts with World Duty Free and Aer Rianta we have become much more proactive in terms of tastings and promotions, with a two-month branded area for our Connemara Peated Single Malt brand in Dublin Airport as an example," said Cooley Marketing Director Jack Teeling. "Additionally, through our European travel retail agent Criollo Supreme Brands we have increased our distribution and relationship significantly with Nuance, Aelia and other European players."
Cooley is looking to develop its Scandinavian and US travel retail business.
The independent distiller achieved nine gold medals at this year’s International Wine & Spirit Competition and a further 12 gold medals at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition for its Kilbeggan, Connemara, Tyrconnell, Greenore and Lockes brands. In addition, Kilbeggan 15yo was named the World’s Best Blended Irish Whiskey at the World Whiskies Awards and Tyrconnell Madeira and Sherry 10yo Finishes picked up coveted Irish Whiskey of the Year Awards.

Lir has extended its gifting propositions with a number of new lines containing Baileys Original Irish Cream liqueur, including Original Truffles now in a travel retail exclusive 190g pack.
Baileys Hearts are described as milk chocolate hearts filled with Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur and wrapped in gold foil; while the Baileys Party Pack includes six individual boxes, each containing two chocolate truffles.
The 180g Baileys Mini Chocolates Truffles Cocktail shaker contains 30 pieces of individually wrapped chocolates in a cocktail shaker-shaped pack.
