MALAYSIA. Spanish fashion company Desigual will open its first stores in Malaysia at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) next month.

Desigual will open two outlets at KLIA’s Satellite Building in December, one for women’s apparel and the other for accessories including, bags, belts, hats and scarves.

The two outlets will be operated by Desigual’s local partner Perniagaan Wafada Sdn Bhd.

Malaysia Airports Senior General Manager Commercial Services Division Puan Faizah Khairuddin commented: “Over the past year, Malaysia Airports has been successful in attracting some of the most coveted brand names particularly to KLIA. What makes it even more satisfying is the fact that KLIA is the first destination for many of these brands, taking precedence over downtown malls. This speaks volumes about our efforts to position our airports as lifestyle destinations.”

Perniagaan Wafada Managing Director Tuan Haji Md Idris Ab Aziz added: “As Desigual’s local partner, we are of the opinion that KLIA provides the brand with a highly visible and strategic entry point to the country and beyond, hence the decision to set up two unique stores in KLIA to offering Asian travellers the best of the Desigual experience.”

As reported, Desigual opened its first Asia Pacific airport outlet at Singapore Changi Airport earlier this year. The Changi outlet is the company’s seventh store in Asia in total, the others being on domestic markets in Singapore and Japan.
