Moises de la Renta's limited-edition collection for Mango reinterprets the T-shirt in various ways
|
SPAIN. Young New York-based designer Moises de la Renta has designed a limited-edition collection of T-shirts exclusively for Spanish fashion chain Mango.
The collection reinterprets the T-shirt in various ways: embellishing it with jewels, precious stones and tulle and giving it a customised deluxe air, as well as creating graphic illusions by using heraldic symbols combined with transparencies and patchwork effects.
This collection goes on sale at the company’s stores from 1 March, with retail prices ranging from €25 to €35.
With his debut collection of T-shirts, de la Renta aims to present intricate, timeless and affordable designs.
"My inspiration was the traditional romantic themes: from pretty patchworks with summer flowers in sombre colours, such as rose, violet, grey and black, to graphic illusions which combine transparent effects, with shiny gems and adornments in between."
Moises de la Renta, the 25-year-old son of fashion designer Oscar de la Renta, blends chic and New York cool styles in his work. America's First Lady Michelle Obama recently wore a dress from his Autumn 09 collection.
In other news, Mango has introduced its Spring/Summer 2010 menswear collection, Homini Emerito by Mango, majoring on two themes: a utilitarian look with an urban safari silhouette, and clean and classical lines in a palette of greys.
