FRANCE. Hello Kitty by Victoria Couture, the high-end fashion accessories range inspired by the world-famous Sanrio cat, has launched a travel kit specially suited to travel retailers.
The new kit comprises a passport holder, luggage tag and purse, all incorporating the iconic cat image.
Having gained airport listings in locations such as Beijing Terminal 3, Beirut, Mauritius and the Maldives, the line's travel retail distributor TRISA (Travel Retail International SA) is now targeting airlines. The company is currently developing window packaging for the inflight market.
During last month's TFWA Asia Pacific show, TRISA exhibited the new Hello Kitty fashion jewellery range, retailing at between US$50 and US$200. The collection, suitable for day and evening wear, includes necklaces, bracelets, keyrings and rings featuring pearls, different coloured stones and Swarovski crystals.
TRISA Brand Manager Olivia de Wailly told The Moodie Report that Hello Kitty T-shirts and small leather wallets were among the best-selling lines. T-shirt prices start at US$60, though more expensive versions are available set with Swarovski crystals.
The children's category is also growing rapidly, she said, with gift items such as hats and gloves selling fast. The company has a 15sq m corner at Beirut Airport carrying a wide range of children's products.
In the domestic market, stand-alone boutiques for the brand are opening in upscale locations worldwide, the latest being Miami, Dubai, Ginza in Tokyo, New York and Los Angeles.
