Jann Fisch named CEO of The Nuance Group Australia & New Zealand – 01/10/07

Jann Fisch joins The Nuance Group in his new role from 1 November
AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND. The Nuance Group has appointed Jann Fisch as CEO of The Nuance Group Australia & New Zealand from November 1. Fisch will also join the Executive Management Team of The Nuance Group.

In a diverse career over the past two decades, Fisch has worked in the airline, airport, retail and service sectors. Starting in marketing, sales and business development for Gate Gourmet, he joined Swissair in 1996 as Marketing & Sales Manager for Northern and Eastern Europe. He was subsequently promoted to Swissair Managing Director of Germany, one of Swissair’s key markets, where he implemented a turnaround of the company’s CHF360 million business. In 2000 Fisch was recruited as Executive Vice President of SwissCargo, a CHF2 billion cargo & logistics business, where he led the worldwide sales and marketing organisation.

In 2002 he became CEO of Pick Pay, Switzerland’s second largest discount retail chain with revenue in excess of CHF1 billion. Pick Pay’s principal sales categories are in liquor, tobacco, wines, confectionery, and branded food and non-food items.

In 2005 Fisch was named CEO of Compass Group Switzerland, a subsidiary of Compass Group. Here he was responsible for 310 restaurants (and airport concessions prior to disposal in 2006) and 2,500 employees, generating a turnover in excess of CHF340 million.

Fisch is 41 years old and speaks English, German, French, Italian and some Spanish. He will be based in Sydney. “I look forward to the challenges of working with our staff, suppliers & airport partners in Australia and New Zealand to create value for our customers each and every day," he commented. "I hope that my experience in various roles in the past will be of help to the team to meet the important challenges ahead for the company.”

The Nuance Group Australia & New Zealand Vice Chairman Jonathan Stent-Torriani said: “I am very pleased that Jann has decided to join our team in Australia and am confident that the company & management team will benefit from his leadership background, extensive retail knowledge and change management experience.”
