Sunglass Hut and Risis claim latest Changi retail concessions; Changi Airport Group calls further key tenders – 27/10/09

SINGAPORE. Sunglass Hut and Risis are the latest winners of key retail concessions at Singapore Changi Airport.

The latest tender for a speciality/brand-name shop concessions at Changi T1 West attracted ten bidders for a 45sq m unit. Gifts retailer Risis won the bidding under its Risis Atelier brand name. It beat competition from, among others, King Power Group (Hong Kong), Mini Toons, Chomel and Jay Gee Enterprises.

The concession will run for three years from 1 December or the handover of the premises to Risis, whichever is later.

Sunglass Hut won the bid for an optical shop concession in Terminal 2, beating competition from Sternpar and Capital Optical Co. The concession runs for three years from 5 January 2010 and covers an 80sq m unit.

In related news, Changi Airport Group has called a tender for another speciality/brand-name shop concession at Changi T1 West. The airport said it was looking for “unique and exciting brands and speciality concepts not already represented at Changi Airport”.

All product categories will be considered except fragrances & cosmetics, liquor & tobacco, and single-brand electronics.

The store measures 130sq m, with the contract running for three years from 11 February 2010. Closing date for submissions is 11 November.

Finally, Changi Airport Group is seeking a hotel group to operate its Transit Hotel Concession. There are two locations, one at Departure/Transit Hall East, Level 3, the other in Arrivals Immigration Hall East.

The closing date is 17 November. The contract runs for three years from 16 July 2010 with an option to renew for a further three years.
