HDS Retail North America adds to Quebec anniversary celebrations with two new airport stores – 10/04/08

CANADA. HDS Retail North America has been awarded contracts to open two new stores at Jean Lesage International Airport in Quebec City.
HDS Retail will operate a Relay News & Gift store along with a stand-alone duty free shop at Quebec’s gateway. This award will add to the company’s line-up of duty free stores in smaller Canadian airports as well as introducing the specialist Relay concept – the world’s largest travel news & gift brand.
Both stores will open in the newly expanded terminal at Jean Lesage International Airport in June. The stores will be delivered as part of the airport’s terminal modernisation project in anticipation of Quebec City’s 400-year anniversary 2008 celebrations.
The modernisation, also due for completion in June, is a key component of the airport’s C$200 million long-term master plan development.
The festivities surrounding the city’s 400-year anniversary, already under way and continuing throughout 2008, will bring a record number of tourists to Quebec and through the airport.
The new terminal will provide services to all domestic, transborder and international flights under one roof, exposing all passengers to the stores. Each is designed to embrace the heritage and beauty of Quebec and help provide travellers with a sense of place in one of North America’s most historic and scenic cities.
