Travalo brings sky-high results for UK airline – 30/11/09

UK. Travalo, a refillable perfume atomiser, has become the number one selling gift item onboard one of the UK’s largest airlines just three weeks after its launch into the travel retail market via duty free distributor Market Connections.
The aluminium atomiser is already ranked the number one and two top-selling gift onboard Thomas Cook, which is offering two colour skus, according to early November sales figures.
Unlike other perfume atomisers on the market, the patented pump atomiser fills in seconds, according to the manufacturer. With a few pumps, the Travalo can contain the user's favourite fragrance, meaning travellers don’t have to carry a chunky bottle of perfume with them on their travels.
The thumb-sized Travalo is made from glass-free, aircraft-grade aluminium and contains some 50 sprays. A window helps users to see that they never run out.
Through Market Connections, Travalo’s UK-based duty free distributor, the brand has created special inflight packaging, while its domestic packaging is said to be suitable for ground store/ferry retailers. The travel retail price is £10.
Market Connections Managing Director Andrew Wright commented: “We’ve approached around 10 airlines this month and all of them have shortlisted it for their next inflight brochure. Our Thomas Cook results are astounding, especially as they took two colour versions immediately and the Travalo has only been onboard for a couple of weeks.”

In the UK domestic market, Travalo has been making waves with online retailer Amazon and beauty chain The Perfume Shop, which has an exclusive domestic retail deal with Travalo until the end of the year for a limited-edition gloss black version.
