Jane Grant's Hugx up for major innovation award at Pet Fashion Week New York – 09/07/08

NORTHERN IRELAND. Hugx, an innovative range of pet-friendly feeding bowls (and related accessories), has been short-listed for the Pet Fashion Week New York 2008 Lifestyle Innovation Award, in the category of ‘pet dinnerware’.
Hugx, the only UK company in the running for the award, is owned by well-known industry executive Jane Grant. This coveted industry accolade is presented to the company that has demonstrated the highest excellence in pet product design in the last year.
Hugx pet bowls are ergonomically shaped and angled, a design resulting from extensive research that reveals that the angle of the bowl is just as important as its depth in allowing pets to optimally access their food.

The Hugx angle allows pets to work their food against the curved wall of the bowl while the sturdy aluminium frame holds the feeding system in place. This eliminates the noise and chasing that occurs with a traditional pet bowl.
The aluminium casing will not rust or tarnish, said the company. The bowl is made from high quality ABS plastic which eliminates the likelihood of chips or breakage that can occur when ceramic comes in contact with tiled floors.
The unique angle even allows pets wearing Elizabethan collars to access their drinking water or meal. This reduces trauma for both pet and owner as there is no need to take off the post-operative collar, said the company.
Hugx comes in a variety of colours and the bowls are interchangeable within the frame, affording pet owners the fun of updating thee look.
Hugx is also ideal for pets on a diet, as turning the bowl 180 degrees results in a “smaller plate” and meal portion. This also works for owners with a growing puppy or kitten.
