HKIA ushers in the new year with high-profile charity auction

HONG KONG.Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) has partnered with ten local artists to celebrate the Year of the Tiger.
Ten ‘Mercy Tigers’, designed by the artists, will be showcased on Level 3 of Terminal 2 from 29 January to 28 February. These miniature tiger figures will be up for public auction and the proceeds will go to the Children’s Cancer Foundation.
The local artists who collaborated on this project include Alice Chan@Asterialand, Carrie Chau, Chocolate Rain, Kasey Lin, Lab VL, Pacino Wan, Tim Tsui, Jim and FAMA.
To take these handmade Mercy Tigers home, passengers can place a bid by submitting a bidding form in person at the exhibition venue on Level 3, Terminal 2, or by fax to +852 2182 3548. To enter the auction, each bidder must spend at least US$10 at Terminal 2 from 29 January to 28 February.

Bidding forms are available at the exhibition venue, as well as online at
www.hongkongairport.com/promotion/CNY2010. The deadline for making the bid by fax is 25 February, and 28 February at 9pm for submission in person at HKIA.

The Mercy Tigers exhibition will be open to the public from 9am to 11pm. Admission is free. In addition, passengers can redeem a ‘Blessed Tiger’ upon spending HK$288 (US$37) or more in Terminal 2 in a single day.
The Mercy Tigers themed exhibition will feature:
• Mercy Tiger-Go-Round – Symbolising harmony and union, it is the perfect festive setting for photos with family and friends, HKIA said
• Mercy Tigers Blessing Gate – 12 windmills to give good luck and blessings for the New Year
• Mercy Tigers Fai Chun Playground – A playground for children to create their own ‘Fai Chun’ and bring home the blessing and happiness
• Mercy Tigers Sofas – Two giant sofas for photo taking
About the Children’s Cancer Foundation
The Children’s Cancer Foundation is a government-registered charity committed to improving the quality of life for young cancer patients and their families, helping doctors to improve the survival rate of these patients, and assisting major public hospitals in Hong Kong in upgrading equipment and services in pediatrics oncology.
